Driving dynamics and design features of the BMW X4 M40i.

The BMW X4 M40i offers a dynamic performance and boast exclusive features to indicate their sporty qualities. Among these are the M Aerodynamics package and a perfectly coordinated set of drive and suspension technologies such as BMW xDrive, 8-speed Steptronic transmission, variable sport steering and M sport differential. The BMW X4 M40i inspires visually with a design that is both athletic and flamboyant.

Driving dynamics

M TwinPower Turbo 6cylinder inline engines. The BMW X4 M40i is powered by a three-litre 6-cylinder inline petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. With an output of 360 hp (265 kW) and a maximum torque of 500 Nm, it has a sporty driving performance. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.

M Sport suspension. M Sport suspension is notable for a more dynamic suspension with tighter damper settings. It also features a moderately higher spring constant and harder stabilisers. Combined together, they result in an even more direct suspension design, which enables a distinctly sporty driving style.

8-speed Steptronic Sport Transmission. The 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission offers incredibly sporty gear changes. Whether automatic or manual using the selector lever or gearshift paddles – for comfortable coasting or incredibly dynamic driving. In SPORT mode and with the selector lever in the left-hand S/M position, the gear shifts are configured for the maximum performance.

Variable sport steering. The variable sport steering with Servotronic creates a direct and agile steering response and ensures that less physical effort is required to turn the wheel. It reacts to the angle of the steering wheel with varying steering ratios. This improves handling when driving more dynamically and reduces the effort needed to steer when parking and turning.

M sport differential. The M sport differential optimises traction and driving stability when changing lanes or accelerating out of a bend, when taking bends at high speeds or on different road surfaces. Traction is optimised with the help of an electronically operated device that reduces the difference in revolution speed between the rear wheels.

M Sport brake. The M Sport brake has four-piston fixed callipers at the front and single-piston floating callipers at the rear in blue (optionally in Red high-gloss) with the M designation is internally ventilated and features large brake discs to ensure an outstanding braking performance.

Design

BMW X4 M40i specific design elements. Unique design highlights underpin the performance attributes of the BMW X4 M40i both inside and outside. Included among it on the exterior is the M kidney grille with M logo and double slats in black high-gloss and a kidney grille frame in chrome, black M exterior mirrors and 21-inch gloss-lathed M light alloy wheels and exhaust tailpipes with free-form trims in black chrome ‘Two Teeth’ style. In the interior, the M leather steering wheel with distinctive contrast stitching and the sport seats for driver and front passenger create the sporty atmosphere.

BMW Individual headlights Shadow Line. The M lights Shadow Line give the main headlights a sporty look with all chrome elements finished in Black. The dark details perfectly complement the optionally available M high-gloss Shadow Line with extended features.

BMW Individual Frozen paint finishes. The BMW Individual Frozen paint finishes allow you to give the BMW X4 M40i a truly individual character. Three unique paint finishes with spectacular matt effects – Frozen Deep Grey, Frozen Marina Blue and Frozen White – impart a unique character to this sports activity coupé (SAC).

21'' M light alloy wheels Double-spoke style 718 M Bicolour with mixed tires. 21" M light alloy wheels Double-spoke style 718 M Bicolour Jet Black with mixed tyres and run-flat tyres, gloss-lathed, wheel size front 8.5J x 21 with 245/40 R21 tyres, wheel size rear 9.5J x 21 with 275/35 R21 tyres.

M Aerodynamic package. The M Aerodynamic package with M-specific front apron, rear apron and side sills in body colour and a diffuser insert in Black high-gloss conveys pure dynamism and sportiness.

M Interior trim finishers 'Carbon Fibre'. M interior trim finishers 'Carbon Fibre' on the instrument panel and door with highlight trim finisher Pearl Chrome.

Sport seats for driver and front passenger. The adjustable sport seats for the driver and front passenger feature numerous manual adjustment options, including fore-and-aft position and backrest angle. Thanks to larger seat and backrest bolsters, and well-defined side bolsters, they provide excellent ergonomics and a high degree of lateral support.

M leather steering wheel. The M Leather steering wheel including multifunction buttons, an M badge and an integrated driver-side airbag is featured in three-spoke design with a cut-out at the 6 o'clock spoke. With a steering wheel rim in leather 'Walknappa' Black with contrast stitching in M colours and contoured thumb rests, it provides a direct, athletic steering experience.
